Legislation

It is important to distinguish between legality and the norm.

In France, as in Europe, there are no laws limiting the sound level of indoor sirens.

However, outdoor sirens may be subject to prefectural ordinances, particularly regarding their volume and duration of operation.

From a regulatory standpoint, conventional alarm systems are generally limited to 105 dB indoors and 115 dB outdoors.

However, the anti-intrusion sound cannon does not fall under the category of alarm sirens, but rather that of acoustic security barriers. It is therefore not subject to the same regulatory requirements.

The Method of Concealment and the Element of Surprise

How to Maintain the Element of Surprise

A visible security system isn't always the most effective one.

Burglars are increasingly conducting reconnaissance before carrying out a burglary.

The more visible a device is, the more time intruders have to prepare for it.

However, the effectiveness of a sound cannon depends on the element of surprise.

Case of establishments that do not admit the public

At sites where visitors do not have access to restricted areas, it is generally not necessary to conceal the device.

This is particularly true of:

  • warehouses;
  • logistics platforms;
  • workshops;
  • industrial buildings;
  • utility rooms;
  • private homes.

In these environments, the sound cannon can be installed in plain view without causing any particular inconvenience.

Establishments Open to the Public

When the public is moving through the premises, the situation is different.

The C2 Qualiforce speaker looks, above all, like a traditional audio speaker.

There are no specific markings to suggest that this is a security system.

In many stores or business premises, this discretion is enough to maintain an element of surprise.

But for some sites that are more exposed, it may be helpful to take further steps.

Hide the speakers in the drop ceilings

For high-risk sites, the speakers can be installed in suspended ceilings using concealment grilles similar to those used in certain public address systems.

The electronic circuit boards, batteries, and control components are then housed together in a secure control cabinet.

Only the speakers are discreetly embedded and distributed throughout the various areas to be protected.

This configuration keeps the system fully operational while making it much harder to detect during a search.

This specific solution is offered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the site configuration and installation constraints.

The suitcase solution: invisible until the very last moment

Sometimes the simplest solution is to leave nothing visible at all.

In this setup, the suitcase-sized sound cannon remains stored in a secure storage room or facility during business hours.

Burglars conducting a reconnaissance mission see only a standard security system: cameras, motion detectors, and a traditional alarm.

When night falls, the case can be set up in just a few seconds on a pre-installed mount, or simply placed in the area to be protected.

The intruders then find themselves facing a system they were completely unaware of.

Neighborhood Nuisance

Sound waves do not travel through walls.

The device can be activated immediately or following a safety countdown lasting one to three minutes, which can be reset.

Alarm Compatibility

The BLAST sound cannon can be connected to an existing alarm system via:

  • dry contact,
  • radio relay.

It is compatible with most professional alarm systems on the market.

Standalone operation and mobile app

The sound cannon can be paired with a Wi-Fi and radio frequency control module that is compatible with the Smart Life app.

Once the setup is complete, the device's physical remote control is replicated in the mobile app.

In the event of a confirmed intrusion:

  1. Open the app.
  2. You press the activation button.
  3. The sound cannon is triggered remotely.

This solution allows you to take immediate action, even when you're not on site.

Operation in the Event of Radio Interference

Method for optimizing an existing radio alarm:

  • Wired motion detector connected to the sounder.
  • Communication with the alarm via a radio relay.
  • In the event of interference, the radio alarm is disabled
  • The wired sensor connected to the barrel remains operational.
  • The sound cannon continues to operate.
  • A response is guaranteed, despite the sabotage attempt
Case #1: You don't have an alarm yet

If you're starting from scratch, the easiest way is to integrate the sound cannon directly into your future setup.

The system is compatible with many professional alarms via dry contact and radio relay.

In the event of an intrusion, the alarm detects the incident and the sound cannon is automatically triggered according to the scenario you have programmed.

Case #2: You already have a wireless alarm system

You're satisfied with your alarm system but would like to enhance your security, particularly against potential attempts to jam the radio signal.

The sound cannon can be connected to your existing alarm system. It can also be connected to its own wired confirmation detectors, such as:

  • motion detectors;
  • opening sensors;
  • seismic detectors.

This way, you get to keep all the benefits of your wireless alarm system while adding independent wired detection—without having to replace your system.

In the event of radio alarm jamming, the detectors connected directly to the continuous-tone siren continue to detect intrusions and enable the system to be triggered automatically.

Case #3: You already have a wired alarm system

This is the simplest case.

The sound cannon connects to your control unit via a dry contact.

Once the scenario is set up, it triggers automatically as soon as an intrusion is detected.

Case 4: You want to add a completely independent protective layer

Some people prefer to install an additional system without modifying their existing setup.

In this configuration, the sound cannon operates completely autonomously using its own wired sensors.

The existing alarm and the sound cannon are independent: each performs its own detection and operates independently.

This architecture provides a particularly valuable level of redundancy. The wired detectors connected directly to the sound cannon are not susceptible to radio frequency jamming and continue to function even if an attempt is made to jam the existing wireless alarm.
